Baripada: Fifty picnickers had a close shave when their bus caught fire after they alighted at a temple near Bangriposi Ghati on NH-49 in Mayurbhanj district on Friday.
Sources said the picnickers had boarded the bus at Singada in Karanjia and were travelling to Ambajoda in Betanati around 11am. They alighted from the bus to visit the Duarasuni temple. The bus was parked near Bangriposi Ghati, when a fire erupted and engulfed the entire vehicle.
Two firefighting teams arrived and doused the flames. Passengers’ belongings inside the bus were gutted, the sources said.
