[Watch] Pipili Bypoll: BJD Candidate Rudra Maharathy Files Papers, Seeks Public Blessings

Puri: The youth leader of Biju Janata Dal and son of former MLA from Pipili Pradeep Maharathy, Rudra Pratap Maharathy filed nomination papers in the office of Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Puri on Tuesday.

As per schedule, Rudra accompanied by his sister Pallavi went in a rally from their home to the ADM office for filing the papers. On the way, they sought the blessings of Bata Mangala. He was also carrying the picture of his father as a blessing.

Minister Samir Dash and Chandbali MLA Byomkesh Ray accompanied Rudra to the ADM Office in Puri for filing of nomination. Also present were Puri MP Pinaki Misra and other local BJD leaders.

After filing the papers, an emotional Rudra promised to follow in the footsteps of his father who had always worked for the welfare of people of Pipili. he also sought the blessings and support of the people of his constituency to help him win the bypoll and serve them better.

Today is the last date for filing of  nomination papers and Congress candidate Ajit Mangaraj too will file his nominations. The papers will be scrutinised on March 31 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is April 3.

The byelection which is scheduled on April 17 was necessitated after the demise of Pradeep Maharathy on October 4 last year.
