Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security was breached in Karnataka on Saturday as a man jumped barricades and tried to rush towards his convoy before being overpowered by security personnel.
Modi was holding a roadshow in Davangere, a city in central Karnataka, as part of BJP’s campaign to retain power in the poll-bound state.

In January, during another of Modi’s roadshow in Karnataka, a man reportedly broke through a barricade and ran towards the PM’s convoy in Hubbali before being pulled away. Local police, however, had denied any security breach.
In Davanagere, Modi urged the people to vote for BJP and give it a full majority to ensure a stable government.
“Karnataka has seen a long period of opportunistic and selfish coalition governments. Karnataka has faced losses due to such governments. So, for fast-paced development of Karnataka, BJP’s full majority, and stable government is needed,” Modi said at the poll rally.
He also mentioned an incident where senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah allegedly slapped a party supporter who had come to meet him.
“Those who don’t respect their own workers cannot be expected to respect other people.” Modi said.
