Cuttack: A police constable on duty saved a woman who was allegedly trying to jump from the edges of an overbridge at Link Road traffic intersection in front Madhupatna police station in Odisha’s Cuttack on Tuesday.
According to sources, the woman, identified as Pranati Sahani, decided to take the extreme step to end her life over a family feud.
“I was working in Bhubaneswar for the last two months. My husband tortured me and thrashed me a few days ago. My family asked me to sort out this problem and I came here two days back. However, after I reached here they took away my son in my husband’s absence,” Sahani claimed.
She further claimed that even after complaining at Tigiria police station, she did not get any legal support from the cops. Hence, she went to Madhupatna police station. Sahani further alleged that her in-laws threatened her to throw boiling water at her.
Fortunately, police constable Tapan Kumar Das noticed the woman standing on top of the bridge and rescued her safely.
