New Delhi: Prannoy Roy is back.
Just over a year after the Adani Group’s takeover of NDTV, the channel’s founder unveiled his new venture deKoder – an AI-driven website and app to analyse issues in multiple Indian languages.
In the first show, which was uploaded on Monday, Prannoy discussed a range of issues with author Ruchir Sharma – ranging from elections across the world to global economic slowdown.
Prannoy, an economist who founded NDTV in 1984 with his wife Radhika Roy, a journalist, resigned as director of the board of NDTV’s promoter RRPR on November 29, 2022.
Thereafter, Adani Group became the largest shareholder in NDTV, with Prannoy and Radhika selling 27.26% of their remaining 32.26% share to the conglomerate.
The Roy couple’s exit from NDTV was followed by a slew of resignations from the company’s top management, including group president Suparna Singh, chief strategy officer Arijit Chatterjee, chief technology and product officer Kawaljit Bedi, and top anchors like Ravish Kumar, Sreenivasan Jain and Nidhi Razdan.
