Mumbai: A private jet with eight people on board skidded off the runway amid heavy rain and crashed while landing at Mumbai airport on Thursday evening.
The visibility on the runway was just 700 metres because of incessant showers.
Both pilots and another passenger were critically injured, and rushed to a hospital, according to BMC.
“VSR Ventures Learjet 45 aircraft VT-DBL operating flight from Vizag to Mumbai was involved in runway excursion (veer off) while landing on runway 27 at Mumbai airport. There were 06 passengers and 02 crew member on board. Visibility was 700 metres with heavy rain,” Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a statement.
The aircraft was owned by an infrastructure company called Dilip Buildcon.
