Lucknow: It was a climax no one anticipated.
Ramleela was being performed in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami, and the stage was set for the final battle between the good and the evil.
Ram, aided by Lakshman, fought Ravan with bows and arrows as the actors moved from one end of the stage to another amid chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
Much to the amazement of the audience and organisers, the fight suddenly took a nasty turn and got ‘real’, with Ravan almost pushing Ram and Laxman off the stage.
The actors abandoned their weapons and came to blows on stage. As the two began attacking each other, members of the organisers rushed to the stage to separate them.
A video of the incident went viral in next to no time.
The play was stopped. Thankfully, there was no adverse reaction from the crowd.
Reacting to the video which was shared extensively on social media, there was a mix of laughter and logic.
Many users found the incident funny, while some felt the actors had actually forgotten who they were.
“It happens many times when people get immersed in their character,” wrote one user.
