New Delhi: Lightning streaks usually travel from the sky towards the ground or move left or right along the sky.
But in a rare event, a flash of lightning that lit up the night sky over Kansas on Tuesday streaked from the ground towards the sky.
Taylor Vonfeldt, who caught it on camera, shared it on Twitter.
The phenomenon occurs when a strong electric field passes over a tall object like a skyscraper or radio tower, a meteorologist told New York Post. “Upward leaders are initiated off the tower as a result. They connect with the electric field in the cloud and you get lightning,” said Meteorologist Chris Vagasky.
