New Delhi: MTV Roadies is back with another season. Titled MTV Roadies Karm Ya Kaand, has a more progressive step to break stereotypes by including a transwoman and a hearing and speech-impaired person as their contestants for this season.
Rhea Chakraborty and Gautam Gulati are its debut new gang leaders along with Prince Narula and Sonu Sood.
Neerja Punia, a transwoman, is a runway model from Haryna who is in her early twenties. She transformed herself irrespective of facing severe traumatic prejudices. Her father, who never supported her, seemed to take an interest in her life after choosing to audition for Roadies 19. “We are not on talking terms since I identified myself as a woman. Irrespective of that, he came to drop me off at the airport. It seemed like a start to me,” India Today quoted her as saying.
“My father is a person who knows all the court procedures well. But I still travelled back and forth to court 10-12 times for all the legal proceedings. I wish he had been there for me,” she added. Neerja impressed all the gang leaders through her dedication, determination and resilience. Gang leader Rhea Chakraborty shared her opinion after witnessing Neerja’s fierce determination.
Shubham Chaudhary is the other special Roadie. The model and content creator from Ghaziabad is hearing and speech impaired since childhood. Shubham works as a model for fashion designers and big brands.
Shubham auditioned along with his friend, who translated his language to the gang leaders and host, Sonu Sood.
Shubham is also a YouTuber who posts vlogs of his daily life in Delhi and videos of him singing in sign language.
