Raipur: In a hilarious incident, Rohit Sharma had an embarrassing ‘brain fade’ moment after winning the toss in the second ODI against New Zealand here on Saturday.
It was Rohit who flipped the coin, and called his opposite number called ‘Heads’. Match Referee Jawagal Srinath informed Rohit the coin had come down in his favour, but the Indian captain looked confused.
He scratched his head and searched for the right response as opposite number Tom Latham and Srinath looked at each other smilingly.
Almost 15 seconds elapsed before Rohit finally informed Latham that India will bowl first.
Commentator Ravi Shastri, who was out in the middle on behalf of the broadcaster, asked Rohit what happened.
“I forgot for a minute, because there is a lot of talk within the team, as to what we want to do and all of that. At the same time, we want to challenge ourselves in difficult conditions as well. So, for a minute I forgot we are going to bowl first,” Rohit explained.
The video went viral in no time. Watch the moment in the video clip shared on Twitter:
It turned out to be a fantastic decision as Team India bowled out New Zealand for a paltry 108 in 34.3 overs. Mohammad Shami led the charge with 3/18.
India won the first match by 12 runs after Michael Bracewell’s sensational 140 nearly overshadowed a stunning 208 by Shubman Gill at Hyderebad.
