Baripada: Four persons had a narrow escape as their car caught fire while crossing a flyover in Mayurbhanj district on Sunday morning.
According to sources, three persons were going in a sedan on National Highway 18 towards Baripada. When the car was crossing the flyover near Betanoti, the driver saw smoke coming out of the engine. As he ignored it and continued driving, fire erupted came out of the hood.
The driver stopped the car and all four of them came out of the vehicle. Soon, the entire car was engulfed by the fire. Nobody has been injured in the incident.

On being informed, Fire personnel rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. They suspected that a short-circuit in the electrical connections might have caused the fire.
Later, police also arrived at the place and started investigation.
In a similar incident in the district in October last year, an abandoned car went up in flames near Jagannath temple at Baripada town.
