Mumbai: It was understandably a major spectacle, following the sensational victory for Mahayuti with more than three-fourths majority in Maharashtra Assembly elections.
A crowd of around 40,000 turned up at Azad Maidan on Thursday for the swearing-in ceremony of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, and the two deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar.
The political bigwigs, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, were present along with a number of chief ministers of NDA-ruled states.
But all eyes were on non-political celebrities. A galaxy of superstars from the film industry and sports were in attendance, along with industrialists like Mukesh Ambani and Kumar Mangalam Birla.
Salman Khan, who has cut down on his public appearances following multiple threats by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, turned up in a black jacket and sunglasses. Shah Rukh Khan was also attired in black.
The two Khans were seen embracing each other as they entered the seating area.
Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali were also present. Shah Rukh was seen greeting Sachin before settling down in his seat.
Ranveer Singh and Ranbeer Kapoor, two of the top contemporary Bollywood actors, exchanged pleasantries.
Among other Bollywood celebrities spotted at the ceremony were Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit Nene and Arjun Kapoor.
