Puri: After a gap of two years, the sand art park built by sand artist Manas Sahoo was opened for tourists flocking to Odisha’s Puri town on Thursday.
The park at Baliapanda, near Light House sea beach, was inaugurated by Puri Collector Samarth Verma and social activist Badri Mishra. “Manas took 4 days to prepare each sand art. If he gets proper support from district administration, the beauty of Puri beach can be enhanced and more tourists can be attracted,” said Verma.
Manas organises the sand art park every year with a message to preserve the beauty and keep the Puri beach clean. This year, he has created the famous Disney character Moana and Maui to spread the message and another sand art based on women’s empowerment titled ‘battle against evil’. Entry to the park is free.
“We have opened this sand art park after two years of COVID lockdown. We hope tourists thronging the town will visit the park. We will make many more sculptures in the coming days in European style,” Manas told the media.
