Bhubaneswar: Their mourning will never end and the vacuum left after the martyrdom of their children will never be forgotten. Losing their son was tragic but, the parents of the two martyred Special Operation Group (SOG) Commandos from Odisha are proud of their brave sons who died fighting the Maoists.
Sudhir Kumar Tudu and Debasis Sethy were awarded ‘Shaurya Chakra’ (posthumously) for their exemplary bravery, valour and courageous action by President Ram Nath Kovind at the Defence Investiture Ceremony 2022 here on Tuesday.
Sudhir’s mother Jauna Tudu and brother Suna Ram Tudu and Debashis’ parents Chhai Sethy and Sanatan Sethy received the award from the President.
The families were given a rousing welcome at the airport here on Wednesday . Chhai Sethy said “we are proud of our son. It is because of Debashis’s valour and courage that we are being given so much respect and honour.”
Jauna said, “My son is gone but this honour will always remind us of him.”
Tudu and Sethy attained martyrdom on September 9, 2020, while fighting with the Maoists in the dense forest near Sirki village under Madanpur Rampur police limits in Kalahandi district.
