Colombo: It was carnage at Premadasa Stadium here on Sunday.
Spearheaded by a dream spell by Mohammed Siraj, the Indian quicks skittled out Sri Lanka for 50 in just 15.2 overs in the Asia Cup final, silencing a huge home crowd.
Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first. Rain caused a 30-minute delay, but once play got underway, the Indian pacers were on fire.
Jasprit Bumrah induced an edge off Kusal Perera with his third delivery and KL Rahul dived across his right to pouch a brilliant catch.
Mohammad Siraj started off with a maiden over from the other end. And in his second over, Siraj was breathed fire and was simply unplayable.
Moving the ball both ways, the crafty pacer picked up four wickets in the over – with his first, third, fourth and six balls.
Watch his magical feat in the video posted on X by Star Sports:
Siraj went on to pick two more wickets and finished with figures of 7-1-21-6.
Hardik Pandya chipped in 3/3 as India bowled out any opposition for the lowest total in an ODI. Kusal Mendis top-scored with 17.
It was the 10th lowest score by any team in the history of ODIs.
