Puri: Tension erupted at Bada Sankha vegetable market in Puri following a clash between police and roadside vendors on Wednesday morning.
According to sources, the incident occurred when police were enforcing social distancing in the market. During this time, one of the vendors was allegedly beaten up by police for violation of COVID guidelines.
A journalist was also injured during the enforcement drive.
However, on being informed, senior police officials reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
Meanwhile, protesting the incident, the roadside vendors have demanded action against policemen.
