Jeypore: Senior Congress leader and sitting MLA of Jeypore Tara Prasad Bahinipati has blamed the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik for the intra-party feud in the Koraput district party unit.
Briefing mediapersons on Wednesday, he said he was not informed about the re-induction of the former Congress MLA of Laxmipur Kailash Kulesika in the party.
Bahinipati said that Congress MP of Koraput Saptagiri Ulaka announced the re-induction of Kulesika in the Congress at a party meeting in Pottangi on Wednesday without informing him and his wife Minakshi, who is the president of the Koraput District Congress Committee (DCC),
“When I questioned the OPCC president about re-inducting a person who had given anti-party statements in the past, he told me that he had informed the Koraput MP about it. According to the rules, the OPCC president should have informed the DCC president about any re-induction. But he ignored her. Even the Koraput MP also did not inform the DCC president in this regard,” he pointed out.
Taking a swipe at Niranjan, he said that the former is trying to create a division in the Congress in Koraput.
Expressing resentment over the modus operandi of the OPCC president, Bahinipati said if the former does not tender an apology before the commencement of the Assembly session, he will resign from his post.
“As the OPCC president has tarnished my self-esteem, I will quit Congress and fight independently,” he said.
