Jajpur: Bodies of two youths were recovered along NH-16, which was closed due to some ongoing construction work, under Panikoili police limits in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Friday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Bijay Sahoo, an auto driver, and Manas Ranjan Das, who was working in a private company that deals with cosmetics. They were natives of nearby Janha village in the district.
According to police sources, locals spotted the bodies this morning. A tiffin box containing make-up items and a motorcycle were seized from the spot.
Sahoo’s family members have alleged that it was a ‘pre-planned’ murder. He was attacked over some love affair and his nephew Manas also got killed while attempting to save him, they added.
Some villagers said that both Sahoo and Das had come here to meet a girl from a nearby village last night. They suspect the involvement of the family members of the girl behind their death.
Meanwhile, Panikoili Police have started questioning the family members of the two youths and villagers. The body will soon be sent to district headquarters hospital for postmortem, the sources added.
