Bargarh/Sonepur: The students, who had to leave war-hit Ukraine midway before completion of their education, have appealed to Central and state governments to help them complete their courses.
Siddheswar Karali, the 25-year-old son of Madan Karali and Manini Karili of Canal Colony in Bargarh town, is one of the students who has safely reached home from Ukraine after Russia declared war on the European country. His his parents expressed their happiness and gratitude to the Centre and state government for safe return of Siddheswar.
“We were highly worried and in constant tension regarding safety of our son after Russia started the aggression. Though we were in touch with Siddheswar, we were not certain of his return. We are grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for evacuating my son amid war and making all arrangements for him to reach home safely. I hope other students would be safely brought back home,” said Madan.

Siddheswar said he was happy to have returned home from Ukraine. But he was worried about his future. He had to quit his MBBS studies midway due to the war and does not know about his future, he said.
“Our university authorities have issued a notification asking us to wait till March 14. If possible, they would conduct online examinations for the students of the last semester. If the war gets prolonged and the university gets closed, we don’t know what to do,” Siddheswar said.
Echoing the same sentiment, another Ukraine returned student, Asish Kumar Bisi of Shanti Nagar in Sonepur town, appealed to the Central and state governments to help them complete their MBBS course. “Since our education was affected midway due to unexpected war, we cannot do anything. We are looking forward to the government’s help for completion of our courses to save our career,” he said.
