Sundargarh: Panic spread in a village of the district on Monday night when a man, suspected to be mentally challenged, climbed a telecom transmission tower and stayed atop it for around four hours before being rescued.
According to sources, the man of around 40 years of age climbed atop the 60-ft telecom tower at Olhani village under Hatibari police limits in the evening.
After failing to convince him to get down and apprehending that he may fall to death, the villagers informed the police and Fire Brigade. Police and Fire personnel also tried to persuade the man, who did not belong to the village, to come down safely.
