Mumbai: Like most music lovers, Virat Kohli is a huge Kishore Kumar fan.
Now, there’s set to be another link between the talismanic Team India batsman and the late legendary singer.
Kohli has converted ‘Gouri Kunj’, the bungalow at Juhu where Kishore used to live, into a swanky restaurant.
On Wednesday, Kohli released a video where he presents a glimpse of his new venture, ‘One8 Commune’. Kohli mentions that utmost importance has been given to the choice and quality of food so that customers visit the place more than once.
Kohli posted a video in Instagram where he gives a tour of the restaurant to popular TV presenter, model and actor Manish Paul, as the two share food stories and even engage in a segment of dumb charades.
As for the choice of venue, Kohli talked about the special person that Kishore was, and even sang a verse of his song ‘Mere Mehboob Qayamat Hogi’.
“His songs have really really touched me. One person asked me who would you have liked to meet, I said Kishore Da always because he was just charismatic,” Kohli says.
Kohli already owns ‘One8 Commune’ chain of restaurants in Delhi, Kolkata and Pune.
His other businesses include clothing, fragrances and shoes — all under the ‘One8’ brand, in association with Puma.
Kohli recently roared back to form after a prolonged lean patch. Team India will be expecting big runs from the former captain in the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia. India will kick off their campaign against arch rivals Pakistan at Melbourne on October 23.
