Balasore: The West Bengal government has demolished the wall constructed in Bhogarai area violating the Balasore district administration’s prohibitory orders.
After some locals found the Bengal workers constructing a wall on Udaipur beach in Bhogarai by intruding 50 feet into Odisha territory on September 7, they had informed the local authorities.
The officials of local administration including Bhogarai tehsildar and police stopped the unauthorised construction. The district administration also imposed Section 144 in the area.
On Tuesday, Bengal workers resumed the construction work in the disputed area on the beach. On being informed, Bhogarai tehsildar Kamalakanta Panda and Udaipur-Talasari Marine IIC Sujata Mallick rushed to the spot and told them to stop the work as they were violating the prohibitory orders.
Following this, Bengal authorities demolished the portion of the wall that had been constructed on Odisha territory overnight.
It may be noted that earlier, both sides had agreed to maintain the status quo in the disputed area.
