Keonjhar: Fire service personnel came to the rescue of a pregnant woman, who required urgent hospitalisation but was stranded after her village in Odisha’s Keonjhar district was cut off by incessant rain in the last few days.
The woman, who is three months pregnant, from Munda Sahi in Talapada panchayat of Telkoi block needed to be shifted to hospital after developing complications.
But with no road access to Mundai Sahi, the only way to shift her to hospital was by crossing the flooded Samakoi river.
Coming to her rescue, fire service personnel tied a rope across the river in spate and helped the woman cross to the other side.
She was first admitted to the health centre at Telkoi, from where she was shifted to the district headquarters hospital.
