Bhubaneswar: Despite a tough fight for the bronze medal, the Indian Women’s Hockey team lost to Great Britain at the Olympics.
It may be noted that Great Britain were the Gold medallist in the last Olympics held in Rio. India was 12th then.
Following the match, Chief Minister Naveen patnaik spoke to the women’s hockey team through video conferencing on Friday. He congratulated the team for putting up a brave fight.
“Girls, you have worked very hard and played very well. You lost a game, but won our hearts. Congratulations to all of you because of the hard work you have put in and playing so well,” Naveen said.
“You will be coming over here (Odisha) on August 17. We will all meet then,” he added.
On its part, the team thanked the Chief Minister and Odisha government for supporting and helping them. “You have played a big role in our journey and therefore credit also goes to you,” a team member told Naveen.
“You all have a long road ahead of you, so keep working hard. You all be happy and keep well,” the CM signed off.
