Waterlogging In Bhubaneswar: Fire Personnel Carry Out Massive Dewatering Ops

Bhubaneswar: In the wake of low pressure-triggered heavy rainfall, Odisha fire services on Monday put its men and machinery on task to dewater several waterlogged areas in different parts of the Odisha capital.

The fire personnel were pressed into service in places like Gauri Nagar, Jagamara,Paika Nagar, Mundai Sahi Chhack, Kolathia and Sriram Nagar, where they used sucker machines and motor pumps to drain out the rainwater.

Besides, separate teams of fire officials were engaged to cut down tree branches that had fallen off owing to heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds in areas, including Acharya Vihar and Kalpana Squares.

Meanwhile, a massive traffic jam was reported in front of ISKCON temple at Nayapalli on NH-16 as the road remained submerged for several hours following incessant rainfall since last evening.

Apart from this, rainwater entered houses of residents at different places including Behera Sahi, Old Town and Samantarapur, forcing people to vacant their dwellings and shift to safer places.
