Watery Grave For Minor Siblings In Odisha’s Koraput

Koraput: In a tragic incident, two minor siblings, a boy and his sister,  died after drowning in a pond at Pipalpur village in Lamtaput block of Odisha’s Koraput district on Friday.

The victims have been identified as Yogesh (5) and his sister Santoshi (10), children of Jinu Ladanaik

Sources said the children were playing at a field and moved close to the pond. The mishap took place when their father Jinu Garnayak was working on the field.

The siblings accidentally slipped into deep water when no one was present at the site.

Unable to find the children for a long time, Jinu got worried and began searching for them. Despite his efforts, he could not trace the missing children. Later, local residents spotted the two children floating in the pond and pulled them them out. However, the children had breathed their last by then, the sources added.

After getting the information, the police rushed to the village and sent the bodies for postmortem. An investigation into the incident is underway.
