New Delhi: We have all seen and heard about peacocks dancing but dancing at a particular place for the past six years is quite unheard of. It is happening in a Karnataka temple. A peacock regularly visits Shri Anantha Padmanabha Subrahmanya Temple at Neermarga Manoor, on the outskirts of the city. Upon reaching the temple, the peacock often dances with joy, especially when people are watching it.
The temple priest, Rajesh Bhatt, has presented a silver anklet to the peacock. He tied it to the bird on the occasion of Navratri. According to News18, the peacock is a centre of attraction in the area around the temple and is also one of the reasons why a huge number of devotees pay a visit to the temple. After all, who has seen a peacock dancing with anklets on!
The peacock arrived six years back after a resident kept the three eggs he found in a chicken coop from which three peachicks came out. He then entrusted these peacocks to the temple. While two of them went somewhere else, this one stayed in the temple for years and has been dancing. The temple priest has named the peacock Mayura as it is very friendly with him and his family as well.
The peacock not only listens to the instructions given by the priest but also responds. It slowly takes steps whenever the priest calls or makes any gestures. In addition to that, it always comes to Namaskara Mandapa every night which the residents find surprising, the report added.
People visiting the temple often interact with the enchanting bird and take selfies with it. As for the bird, it is camera-friendly and dances with ease for the lens.
