Seven observatories were installed at Nayagarh, Boudh, Chhatrapur, Paralakhemundi, Rayagada, Bhadrak and Jajpur during 2020-21.
Of the total 38 observatories, 10 are fully operated by IMD and rest 28 are operationalised in coordination with the Government of Odisha. The observatories are set up under the initiative of Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar (IMD) and Revenue and Disaster Management Department.
Besides these, the IMD has two Doppler Weather Radar stations at Paradip and Gopalpur and six High Wind Speed Recorder (HWSR) at Gopalpur, Puri, Bhubaneswar, Paradip, Chandbali and Balasore.
