Bhubaneswar The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday thundershowers with rain in 16 districts of Odisha in the next 24 hours.
The alert has been sounded for Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Cuttack and
Jajpur.
However, the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Kalahandi heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two
places.
A cyclonic circulation now lies over south Chhattisgarh and neighbourhood and extends upto mid-tropospheric levels tilting southwestwards with height is likely to cause rains in several areas in its path.
The Met centre has also forecast cloudy sky with a few spells of rain or thundershower in the capital city.
However, the weather will remain dry over the next two days – July 16-17 – after which rain with thundershowers are again predicted over several North Odisha districts from July 17 noon to July 18. Few places in South Odisha likely to experience light rain.
The Special Relief Commissioner has issued an alert to the district heads and municipal commissioners asking them to remain prepared and issue necessary precautionary orders in vulnerable areas.
