Balangir: The newly married woman who was seriously injured in parcel bomb blast that took place on Friday at Bholanathpada of Bramhapura village under Patnagarh police station limits in the district was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital from Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla on Sunday morning.
“The victim has sustained 60-70 percent burn injuries. She has been admitted to the surgery ward of the hospital. A special team of doctors has been formed for the woman’s treatment”, a doctor at SCB Medical College and Hospital informed.
Meanwhile, police investigations revealed that the gift parcel weighing 2.10 kg was sent from Raipur of Chhattisgarh by one RK Sharma through Skyking courier services.
On Friday, a bridegroom and his grandmother died while the bride suffered grievous injuries when a wedding gift box exploded in their house at Bholanathpada of Bramhapura village under Patnagarh police station limits in the district.
The deceased have been identified as Soumya Ranjan Sahu and his grandmother Jenamani Sahu while the bride Reena Sahu is battling for her life at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla.
Soumya and Reema got married on February 18.
The mishap took place when the couple opened the gift box that was delivered to them in parcel. Soumya succumbed to his injuries while he was being shifted to Ispat General Hospital in Rourkela. His grandmother died while undergoing treatment at Balangir district headquarters hospital.
