Bhubaneswar: Targeting to collect 10,000 units of blood, ‘Odisha Mo Parivar – Jeevan Bindu’ on Sunday launched a week-long blood donation camp in 29 district headquarters of the state.
According to media reports, convener of the ‘Odisha Mo Parivar’ Arup Patnaik inaugurated the ‘Jeevan Bindu’ programme in Bhubaneswar on the occasion of Kranti Diwas which is observed on August 9. The programme will continue till August 15.
Among others, BJD MLA Debi Prasad Mishra, Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, MLA Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Rajya Sabha member Sujit Kumar and Bhubaneswar (Central) MLA Ananta Narayan Jena were present at the blood donation camp.
More than 1450 units of blood were collected on the first day of the programme.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had launched ‘Odisha-Mo Parivar’, a social service initiative of the ruling BJD in the state last year. It aims at encouraging environment protection, blood donation and the welfare of Odias in distress.
