Weekend Shutdown Relaxed In Odisha’s Rourkela For Nuakhai

Rourkela: The weekend shutdown has been relaxed in the areas under the jurisdiction of Rourkela Municipal Corporation to celebrate Nuakhai festival.

In an official order, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) said since Nuakhai is an important festival that is celebrated across western Odisha, the weekend shutdown on August 31 has been relaxed. Nuakhai falls on this date this year.

People are allowed to celebrate the festival on their premises. But congregation of any kind is not permitted on the occasion, the order stated.

The SRC has also advised the people to follow the safety protocols of COVID-19 like maintaining social distancing, wearing face masks and cleaning hands during the celebration.
