‘Welcome Aparajita Sarangi’ Rents The Air After ‘Go Back’ Slogan As Bhubaneswar MP Visits Local Market

Bhubaneswar: Attempts by some people to oppose the visit of BJP leader and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi to a market place in Odisha capital seemed to have failed with the crowd gathered in the area raising slogans welcoming her.

Some people, who had assembled at the market in Saheed Nagar ahead of the Lok Sabha member’s visit, shouted slogans opposing her. They shouted slogans like “Aparajta Sarangi Go Back” and “Naveen Patnaik Zindabad” for quite some time.

However, soon after the arrival of the lawmaker along with her supporters at the site on Sunday, the protesters reportedly turned silent and most of them moved away.

Even some of the people who had been brought to the area to oppose her visit started raising slogans in her favour, a statement from Sarangi’s office said. “Welcome Aparajita Sarangi” rent the air as soon as the BJP MP reached the site and walked through the market place waving at people.

It said some traders had met the BJP leader on Saturday to apprise her about several problems faced by them and urged her to undertake a visit to the market. Local BJD leaders had reportedly threatened the vendors and asked them to oppose Sarangi’s visit, but their attempts failed, it claimed, adding that some women had also been mobilised by the ruling party this morning as part of the plan to oppose her visit.

However, instead of opposing her, the women welcomed the BJP leader as soon as she reached the site and raised slogans in her favour, it added.
