Cuttack: Three vehicles reportedly got trapped after a huge electronic welcome gate installed by Khannagar Puja Committee for Durga Puja collapsed near Cuttack Netaji Bus Terminal (CNBT) on Friday.
However, no casualties were reported in the incident.
According to local media reports, there was none inside the car at the time of collapse.
The local authorities blocked the entire road following the incident, which has raised questions regarding the safety precautions taken during installation of the structure.
Locals said the gate was installed some 15 days back. “We suspect that the incident happened after some heavy vehicle collided with it,” said a member of the puja committee.
The vehicles that had been affected were apparently parked in the no-parking zone.
“A vehicle was reversing and the structure collapsed after it collided with it,” Prafula Sahu, secretary of the puja committee told a local channel. Process was underway to clear the road.
