Puri: A tourist from West Bengal reportedly drowned while taking a bath in sea in Odisha’s Puri town on Wednesday.
According to sources, the tourist, identified as Sushant Adhikari (54) of Nityanandpur in Bankura of West Bengal, had come on a visit to the Pilgrim Town along with his family members. After offering puja in Jagannath temple, they went to the sea beach in front of the Swarga Dwara.
Sushant with his family members went to take bath in the sea in the afternoon. While bathing, the tourist was dragged by a strong current into deep water.
As he could not swim back to the beach and went missing, his family members with the help from the locals went to this rescue. They managed to locate him deep waters and brought him the beach.
They family rushed Sushant to the district headquarters hospital in the sea-side town. But the doctors declared him brought dead.
On being informed, a team from the Town police station went to the hospital and sent the body for post mortem. They have registered a case of unnatural death.
