Western Odisha Continues To Reel Under Heatwave; 10 Places Record 40 Degree Celsius Or More

Bhubaneswar: The temperature remained low in coastal and southern areas of Odisha, while western part continued to reel under heatwave condition on Saturday.

According to evening bulletin of India Meteorological Department (IMD)The other , as many as 10 places in western Odisha recorded temperature of 40 degree Celsius or more on the day. Four places in the region registered 41 degree or more.

Balangir was the hottest place in the state with 41.8 degree Celsius on the day. It was followed by Nuapada with 41.5 degree, Jharsuguda with 41.4 and Titlgarh with 41 degree Celsius.

The other places that recorded 40 degree Celsius or more included Sonepur with 40.8 degree, Sundargarh 40.5, Sambalpur 40.4, Hirakud and Bhawanipatna 40.2, and Boudh 40 degree.

The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack registered maximum temperature of 36 degree and 36.6 degree Celsius respectively, while Puri recorded lowest temperature at 33 degree.

The IMD has issued a yellow warning and forecast that thunderstorm with lightning is very likely in one or two places in Koraput, Nawarangpur, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore, and Bhadrak district in next 24 hours.

For Bhubaneswar, it has forecast that the city will have partly cloudy sky with possibility of development of  thunder/lightning. Maximum and minimum temperature are very likely to be around 37°C and 26°C respectively.
