Rayagada: The postmortem reports have revealed that Russian national Vladimir Bidenov died due to a heart attack while Pavel Antov had an accidental death.
According to sources, police officers received the postmortem report on Wednesday. It stated that Pavel sustained a severe internal injury after allegedly falling down from the third floor of the hotel.
Meanwhile, the other two tourists, Pansasenko Natalia (44) and Turov Mikhail (64) along with the tour guide arrived at the Crime Branch headquarters in Cuttack for interrogation. Both of them have been asked not to leave the state till the investigation is underway.
All of them were interrogated at the Bhubaneswar Crime Branch office till late last night.
The CID-Crime Branch team will visit Rayagada to probe further into the mysterious death of two Russian nationals after the direction of Odisha’s Director General of Police (DGP) Sunil Kumar Bansal.
DGP Bansal had earlier told that if required, the CBI will completely take over the investigation of the case since Russian nationals are involved.
Besides, DIG (South Western Range) Rajesh Pandit inspected the hotel in Rayagada where the Russian nationals were staying.
Antov along and his three friends was on a visit to Odisha on tourist VISAs via New Delhi. They went to Rayagada on December 21 and stayed at Sai International Hotel. They had reportedly planned to visit Jeypore town in Koraput district.
However, one of the four, Vladimir Vudanov (62) was found dead inside his room on December 22. Two days later, on December 24, Antov’s body was found in a pool of blood outside the hotel and it appeared that he might have fallen off the terrace or from a window and died.
According to a tourist guide, Antov and Vudanov appeared to be close friends.
While Vudanov’s last rites were performed at Rayagada after informing the Russian Embassy, police have preserved the body of Antov and launched a probe.
