Bhubaneswar: Bollywood legend Dilip Kumar and his on-screen Anarkali, Madhubala were head over heels in love with each other.
However, after being in a beautiful relationship for over 9 years, the lovebirds parted ways. Though their break-up had left fans heartbroken, the reason behind it is still not known to many.
Recently, Madhubala’s sister Madhur Brij Bhusan revealed how the famous love story came to an end and it has been shared by the Twitter handle – @greeneyedabyss.
Dilip Kumar and Madhubala met on the sets of ‘Tarana’ and fell for each other. They even got engaged and Dilip Kumar’s sister presented a chunni to Madhubala as per the custom.
However, things turned sour when during the shooting of ‘Naya Daur’, Madhubala’s father didn’t want her to shoot at a particular location because some time ago, a woman’s clothes were torn by crowd during the shooting of another film ‘Jabeen Jaleel’.
The filmmakers were not ready to change the location and the matter went to the court. At that time, Dilip Kumar supported BR Chopra, the director of the movie and called Madhubala’s father a dictator.
Following this incident, the two parted ways. According to Madhubala’s sister, their relationship ended because ego came between their love.
Dilip Kumar used to ask Madhubala to leave her father and marry him, while the latter used to ask him to apologize to her father. The two never compromised on their stand and this was the end of their love story.
Later on, Madhubala married actor-singer-director Kishore Kumar and Dilip Kumar tied the knot with Saira Banu, who was 22 years younger to him.
