Bhubaneswar: Odisha IPS officer Lalit Das was on Monday removed as Director, Intelligence, and transferred to Home Department as Officer on Special Duty (OSD).
RP Koche will replace him. The 1993-batch IPS officer, who is currently serving as Additional DGP, Special Armed Police (SAP), will hold additional charge as Director, intelligence, a notification issued by Home Department said.
An IPS officer of the 1992 batch, Das had assumed charge as Director, Intelligence, Odisha Police in June 2021. He was awarded the President Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2008, the President Police Medal for Distinguished Service iin 2016, DGP’s Disc, 2015-2016 and the Governor’s medal in 2016.
An alumnus of IIT (Madras), IIM (Bangalore) and NIT (Rourkela), Das was also awarded the United Nations Peace Medal in 2004.
