Popular messaging app WhatsApp is withdrawing support for millions of older phones. The app will stop working for such phones all-together.
All Windows Phone users will have to switch as it won’t work after December 31. iPhone users running iOS or older will no longer be supported. That means iPhones older than iPhone 6s.
Also, Android devices running version 2.3.7 or older will have to upgrade.
“Users of these operating systems are already unable to create new WhatsApp accounts or re-verify existing accounts,” WhatsApp mentioned on its blog.
To check if your phone will no longer support WhatsApp, go to Settings > About Phone and check the operating system version.
Facebook had bought WhatsApp for $19 billion in 2014.
