Mumbai: Theatre artiste and film actor, Sujata Mehta, featured in many popular Bollywood movies, including Pratighaat (1987), Yateem (1988), and Kanwarlal (1988), among others.
The veteran actress, who has worked with several big stars like Sunny Deol, Mithun Chakraborty, Rajinikanth, Jeetendra, in a recent conversation with Hindi Rush, shared that Bollywood perfectionist Aamir Khan used to serve water backstage before becoming a superstar.
“Aamir Khan was getting trained when I was doing shows in theatre. He has worked backstage and has even served water to people. He got trained from the scratch. He has reached the top from scratch. But, even after all these years, he has not forgotten his roots. Once when I visited Prithvi theatre, he got up from his seat and gave me the same respect as Dharmendra. He is Khandaani. Apparently, he had seen my theatre show, Chitkar, several times when he was working back stage,” Sujata said.
The veteran also shared about meeting the other top-notch Bollywood Khan, Shah Rukh and said that he is one of the humblest actors she has ever seen.
“I once met Shah Rukh Khan in film city. He looks extremely ordinary when it comes to his appearance. For once, I wasn’t sure if he was Shah Rukh Khan. I was also shooting there, and he recognised me and spoke to me quiet humbly,” she said recollecting meeting SRK.
She continued, “Once I met him at Mehboob studio too. He is extremely down-to-earth and hard working.”
Sujata, who has acted in several Gujarati films and television shows also, wishes to work with Shah Rukh Khan in future.
