Mumbai: Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar, who made heads turn with her role in ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’, was thrown out of the film school once upon a time.
Yes, you read it right. On Neha Dhupia’s chat show, ‘No Filter Neha’, Bhumi revealed that she was expelled from film school because of low attendance. The actress confessed that she was not at all disciplined during her college days.
“I was thrown out, I did not drop out. They asked me to leave. Imagine you’re thrown out of film school, I was like that’s the worst. Because my attendance was so low, I didn’t attend. It was horrible. But, I do recommend if anybody truly wants to go to study film, there’s a certain age for it. Don’t do it when you’re 16-17, because you’re not going to take it seriously,” the actress said on the chat show.
In an interview with Deccan Chronicle earlier, Bhumi had shared details of her Bollywood journey, saying that she had to take a loan of Rs 13 lakh to pay her film school fees.
However, after being thrown out of the film school, she had no source of income to repay her loans. It was then that she joined Yash Raj Films as a casting assistant before getting the big break with ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’.
“I failed film school not because I wasn’t a good actor but because I wasn’t disciplined enough and that was the biggest jhatka. I was like, I have screwed up — and I had this Rs 13 lakh loan on my head — it’s a huge amount,” Bhumi told Deccan Chronicle.
Bhumi will next be seen in ‘Durgavati’.
