Mumbai: Shahid Kapoor is an established actor in Bollywood, having set the box-office ringing with a series of fine performances over the years.
People took notice of Pankaj Kapur and Neelima Azim’s son in the romantic hit ‘Jab We Met’ co-starring Kareena Kapoor, before Shahid excelled in action movies and thrillers like ‘Kaminey’, ‘Badmash Company’, ‘Haider’, ‘Udta Punjab’ and ‘Kabir Singh’.
But there was a time when today’s macho hero used to get bullied.
Shahid’s parents split when he was very young, after which he used to live with his maternal grandparents. At the age of 10, Shahid was made to shift from Delhi to Mumbai and mostly lived with his mother.
It was in Mumbai that he struggled in the early years and, in fact, hated going to school as he faced bullying.
“I hated my school at Bombay, I was bullied and my teachers were also not very nice to me. Sorry but that is true. I loved my school in Delhi, I was there from Jr KG and I had a lot of friends. I don’t have pleasant memories of schooling in Bombay,” Shahid said during a chat on Sunday Brunch while promoting his just-released film ‘Jersey’.
He added that because he was a ‘Delhi ka ladka’, he refused to step back and tried to give it back. That’s why he couldn’t make friends in school,” he added.
However, he had a much better time in college.
“My college in Mumbai was a lot of fun… I was in Mithibai. But schooling was not so nice,” Shahid revealed.
