Mumbai: Boney Kapoor experienced several ups and downs before establishing himself as a leading producer in the Hindi film industry.
He had a challenging childhood also, as his father faced tough times and lost several jobs because he was an honest and upright person.
Boney, whose latest film ‘Maidaan’ starring Ajay Devgn is receiving critical acclaim, revealed in a recent interview that his father had to live in Raj Kapoor’s servants quarters with his family since he didn’t have enough money to afford an accommodation.
“My father was brought to Bombay by Prithviraj Kapoor. My grandfather handed over my father to Prithviraj ji because my father left about 10-12 jobs. Left, in the sense, he was thrown out because he was siding with and supporting the workers, and fought for their causes,” Boney told Galatta India.
It was after his grandmother passed away that Boney and his brother Anil Kapoor decided to take up acting and production, respectively
“Somebody had to run the show at home also. My father had a heart problem, we didn’t want to give him stress. My father was in debt. We were in a sh**hole,” Boney recalled.
Following ‘Maidaan’, Boney has announced a Telugu project with Ram Charan and his daughter Janhvi Kapoor, tentatively titled RC 16.
The producer has also confirmed ‘No Entry 2’ with Diljit Dosanjh, Arjun Kapoor and Varun Dhawan.
