Mumbai: During the #MeToo movement, Bollywood actress Chitrangada Singh had opened up about the harassment she faced on the sets of Nawazuddin-starrer ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’.
According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, the actress said that she was asked to lift up her petticoat and rub herself for a scene in the film.
“When I shot for the film (Babumoshai Bandookbaaz), suddenly they came up with a titillating scene and asked me to do it with Nawazuddin. The director just ordered ‘apna petticoat uthao aur ragdo aapne aap ko’! Who talks like this? He was just atrocious. I was offended, and I walked out,” Chitrangada was quoted as saying.
The actress further revealed that actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui was present on the sets when she was being forced to do the uncomfortable scene. However, Nawaz preferred to stay tight-lipped, she said.
When she refused to do the scene, she was called troublesome and was asked to leave the film.
Later, Chitrangada was replaced by Bidita Baig.
Chitrangada had added that if men in power (Bollywood biggies) don’t take a stand for women, then they are indirectly encouraging the harassers and such type of incidents in the industry.
