London: Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist for girls’ education and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, married Asser Malik in a low-key nikkah ceremony in Birmingham, central London, on Tuesday.
Since she shared photos from her intimate wedding on Instagram, people are curious to know who her husband is.
Malik is a sports entrepreneur and currently serving as a general manager, high performance, with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He joined the organisation in May 2020, according to his LinkedIn profile.
An expert in sports administration, he is noted for coming up with novel concepts. He is one of the co-founders of LMS Pakistan. Malik has previously worked with the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) Multan Sultans as an operational manager and established a player development programme for the franchise.
He also ran a player management agency.
In 2012, he graduated from Lahore University of Management Science with a bachelor’s degree in economics and politics. He is also the founder and president of Dramamine, a theatre production business.
His family is residing in Lahore and Punjab, media reports said.
According to the reports, they have been dating for the last three years. It is, however, not clear when the two first met. Malala did feature in a group selfie, which Malik shared on Instagram in June 2019, while cheering for Pakistan at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham, UK.
On Malala’s 24th birthday on July 12 this year, she and Malik were snapped posing with a cut-out of her favourite actor, Shah Rukh Khan, which the latter had arranged.
