WHO Tells Countries To Avoid Politicisation Of Pandemic Response

New Delhi: Following an emergency committee meeting on October 29 on COVID-19, the World Health Organization (WHO) said that it is still a public health emergency of international concern. The world body urged a focus on response efforts on the basis of a lesson learned and string science, according to India Today.

WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus accepted the committee’s advice and stated that “WHO will continue to work in partnership across the world to drive science, solutions and solidarity.”

The committee appreciated WHO’s leadership and activities throughout the global response, that included its critical role in developing evidence-based guidance, providing countries with technical assistance and critical supplies and equipment, communicating clear information and addressing misinformation, and convening the Solidarity Trials and the Access to Covid-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator, as per India Today.
