Bhubaneswar: Nayapalli police here on Thursday took contract killer Sampad Sahu on two-day remand to elicit more information about his targets, people who had hired him and his associates.
A resident of Jagatsinghpur district, he was nabbed near Swapneswar Temple at Nayapalli on Sunday with two firearms and eight live bullets.
According to police sources, he reached Bhubaneswar on November 26 after getting a contract to eliminate a businessman.
Apart from pistols, a chilli spray was recovered from this motorcycle. While police overpowered him, his associate managed to escape.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Sahu was involved in 5 criminal cases under Bidanasi, Malgodown in Cuttack, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur police limits. He was also an accused in the Baranga murder case.
While police had requested for a five-day remand of the alleged contract killer, the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court on November 30 allowed them to take him on a two-day remand.
