Bhubaneswar: The coronavirus has spread its tentacles to 29 of the 30 districts in Odisha.
All nine districts in Western Odisha – Naupada, Balangir, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi and Bargarh – are in the grip of the virus.
Sonepur, the lone district which was left untouched so far, reported its maiden COVID-19 case on Tuesday, which also saw 14 new patients being detected in Balangir.
While a Gujarat returnee has tested positive in Sonepur, the 14 cases in Balangir include seven with travel history to West bengal, six to Maharashtra and one to Tamil Nadu.
Balangir has the highest 38 positive cases. With 2 recoveries, the district now has 36 active cases.
Sundargarh comes close second with 37 cases, among whom 26 have been fully cured. Boudh has reported 33 cases and four recoveries.
Deogarh district has 24 corona positive cases. Of them, two have recovered.
Similarly, Kalahandi has so far seen 15 COVID-19 cases and two among them have recovered from the infection.
Jharsuguda’s affected tally is six with two recoveries.
Five cases have been detected in Sambalpur and one each in Nuapada and Bargarh.
