New Delhi: Amazon has tweaked its newly-designed logo for the mobile app after users gave it an unfavourable feedback. Why? Well, they thought it appeared similar to Hitler and Charlie Chaplin’s toothbrush moustache.
“Amazon is always exploring new ways to delight our customers. We designed the new icon to spark anticipation, excitement, and joy when customers start their shopping journey on their phone, just as they do when they see our boxes on their doorstep,” an Amazon spokesperson told The Verge.
The app logo that had invited the ire of the users featured a brown cardboard box design with the strip of the tape posted on the top centre of the logo. The blue-coloured tape which is placed above the company’s signature smiling “arrow” logo resembled the moustache of the dictator, IndiaToday.in reported.
The moustache-style adhesive in the logo has now been replaced with a folded piece of tape that represents the joy of opening an Amazon package. But users on Twitter have dug out similarities of the redesigned logo with a popular cartoon character Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender.
“I know the new amazon app icon is supposed to represent their packages but every time I see it I just see Aang from Avatar smiling at me,” a Twitter user pointed out on Twitter.
Another user wrote, “Is it just me or does the new amazon app logo kind of look like aang..”
Earlier, Myntra had to alter its app icon after an NGO accused the logo of being offensive and derogatory towards women.
